Our project is intended as a standard bearer for poetry: to provide the MAC arts & cultural centre with an identity, an absolute must for all public facilities of this scale. With a generous architectural expression, it must communicate its theatrical, sensual and artistic aspect to the city, revealing its movements, energy and diversity through a kaleidoscope of volumes and empty spaces laid out as programmes require.
The building design is largely inspired by the traditional Lebanese dwelling, which symbolically anchors the project within its history.
We are not dealing with a single building but rather several buildings, reflecting the contextual diversity and porosity of the spaces as well as their interactions.
A city in miniature, a polymorphous membrane, a project that is both dynamic and non-conformist.
